A 17-year-old dirt bike rider died Tuesday morning after he crashed into a garbage truck in Lower Township, authorities said.

The municipal garbage truck was driving north on Bayshore Road around 11:30 a.m. when the driver began to make a right turn onto Atlantic Avenue, according to a joint statement from Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lower Township Police Department.

A member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips admitted his role in the Essex County gang this week, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey.

Jason Franklin, a/k/a “Freak,” pleaded guilty Friday to Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, conspiracy and now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, federal prosecutors said.

A has been arrested on allegations that he was dealing methamphetamines out of an auto repair shop.

James Palmisano, 43, of Little Egg Harbor, was taken into custody on Jan. 3 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of steroids, possession of drug paraphernalia and various weapons offenses, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said on Friday.

A man has been sentenced to prison in a stabbing that left a woman with serious injuries that she is still recovering from two years later.

Harry Bray, Jr., 37, of Manchester, received an 18-year sentence on Friday, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release. He pleaded guilty to attempted murder in November.

A Morris County woman sentenced to five years probation upon the condition she spend 90 days in prison after pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a child at a daycare in Mount Olive, officials from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday.

Christina Susco, 38, of Budd Lake pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child in November 2024 after she was accused of assaulting a 16-month-old child at the Mount Olive Child Care & Learning Center, where she worked earlier in the year, officials said.

When Woody Johnson fired general manager Joe Douglas, back on Nov. 17, he said it was in part so the Jets could begin their search for a successor immediately. And when they started interviewing candidates in mid December after hiring a sports media and analytics firm (led by former GM Mike Tannenbaum) to help with the search, in the midst of a seven-week stretch when they were the only team in the market for a new general manager, they appeared to be taking advantage of that opportunity.

PHILADELPHIA – Los Angeles Rams rookie edge rusher Jared Verse has had an impressive season, earning a Pro Bowl selection and helping the Rams reach Sunday afternoon’s divisional-round game against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. However, comments he made about Eagles fans in a story that appeared on the Los Angeles Times website may stir up the very people he said he “hates,” potentially leading to an even more raucous crowd at the game. Eagles players have chimed in on the remarks, with one star questioning why Verse would make such statements. In the story, Verse expressed his strong dislike for Eagles fans.

The National Weather Service now says as much as 6 to 8 inches of snow, with some pockets of 10 inches, could fall in parts of northern New Jersey on Sunday, as a winter storm system impacts our region.

Winter storm watches have been issued for eight counties in northern New Jersey as the state braces for a weekend storm system that could drop as much as 6 to 10 inches of snow in some areas and create dangerous road conditions across the region on Sunday.

The weather service adds to prepare for, "Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8 inches possible."

New Jersey dropped its unsuccessful appeal of a court order that allowed New York’s congestion pricing to start on Jan. 5 and intends to file a new suit against the Federal Highway Administration, attorneys said.

FaviconArrest made in New Year’s morning hit-and-run that seriously injured pedestrian

A Jersey City man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash in the early hours of New Year’s Day that left a woman with serious injuries, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced Friday.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Jan. 1 in the area of Communipaw and Marcy avenues, not far from Route 440 and Lincoln Park.
